radio friends around the world. I am your host Prithwiraj with the
5th edition of Indian DX Report. Thank you very much for your
overwhelming response with reception reports, letters and email after
that last edition of IDXR. Hope to get similar responses from you
again and again which is always a great inspiration for Indian DX
Report. So lets start with some news from India.
=>
Durga Puja is the most important and sacred festival for Hindus
residing specially in Eastern part of India and this is the most
hapenning festival for Bengalies around the world. Countdown of this
great Indian festival of Durga Puja starts from the day of Mahalaya,
that is seven days before the start of five day long religious
festival. All India Radio will be doing a special transmission for
"Mahalaya" on 15th October, 2012 (Monday) from 2225 to 0015
hour UTC. This will be a special two hour tranmission of “Mahisasura
Mardini”consisting of Sanskrit recitation & music orated by
Late Shri.Birendra Krishna Bhadra. All India Radio has been
broadcasting this program since early 1930s. This is a great
opportunity to catch AIR regional stations on Shortwave as well as
Medium Wave. The following AIR stations usually broadcast this
special transmission on Shortwave apart from many on Medium wave:
4760 kHz - Port Blair, 4810 kHz – Bhopal, 4820 kHz– Kolkata, 4835
kHz – Gangtok, 4880 kHz – Lucknow, 4895 kHz – Kurseong, 4940
kHz – Guwahati, 4965 kHz – Shimla, 9425 kHz - Delhi (Khampur) and
9470 kHz- Aligarh.
=>India’s
first 1000 Kilo Watt DRM Super Power Transmitter of All India Radio
has been dedicated to the Nation at Liyare village in Jamnagar
district in Gujarat on 10th September. This Super Power Transmittre
with DRM technology is capable of broadcasting in DRM, AM and
simulcast modes which is the first of its kind in the country.
The entire project was completed at the total cost of 42 crore
rupees. This Relay Station used by Urdu, Sindhi and Baluchi programs
of AIR External Services beamed to nearby Pakistan,Afghanistan, Iran
and some other Gulf countries in North West direction. The
frequency is 1071 kHz for AM mode and 1080 kHz for DRM mode.
The
External Service sked on MW 1071 kHz is 0015-0100 UTC in Urdu,
0100-0200 UTC in Sindhi, 0200-0430 UTC in Urdu, 0830-1130 UTC in
Urdu, 1230-1500 UTC in Sindhi, 1500-1600 UTC in Baluchi, 1600-1930
UTC in Urdu. If you hear any of these transmission then you can send

India Radio, Lucknow station recently celebrated its 75th
Anniversary. This prestigious station is one of the oldest
stations started during 1938 alongwith Delhi, Bombay, Calcutta,
Madras and Tiruchi. AIR Lucknow can be heard on 4880 kHz on Shortwave
and on 747 kHz and 1278 kHz on Medium Wave.
PAKISTAN:
In
a recent news published in some Pakistani media it has been said that
Radio Pakistan management has decided to shut down 5 shortwave (SW)
transmitters installed at HTP Rawat with immediate effect. These
transmitters installed over a vast area of about 370 acres of land to
transmit Radio Pakistan signals to the outside world including South
East Asia, Gulf, Middle East, Europe and some other parts. Pakistan
Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) — management is doing so to shift
external services on internet and subsequently on satellite. More
updates are awaited on this.
SRI
LANKA:
The
current Sked of SLBC in Indian Vernaculars is 0113-0330 UTC on
11905 kHz (200kW), 7190 kHz (10kW) and from 0830 to 1215 UTC on
6005 kHz (10kW) and 11905 kHz. In weekends this
transmission can go up to 0500 UTC depending on sponsored programs.
The All Asia Service in English is from 0125 to 0300 UTC
on 15745 kHz of 35 kW power which was previously used by Voice of
America and on 9770 & 6005 kHz of 10kW power which
are slightly off frequency. On Saturday and Sunday this transmission
can go upto 0500 UTC depending on sponsored programmes, usually
Gospel programs. The Sinhala service of SLBC to the Middle East
11750 kHz can be heard from 1630 to 1834 UTC. SLBC has also
introduced a short English News broadcast in their main Hindi Program
of 0115 to 0330 UTC on 11905 kHz and 7190 kHz.

here are some recent station logging details:
Recently
Radio Hargeisha from Somalia is heard here in Indian Subcontinent
testing with new 100kW tramnsmitter on 7120 kHz from around
1400-1830 UTC and also started Morning tests from 0300 till about
0500.
Radio
Kuwait in Urdu is recently being heard with excellent reception
condition on 15540 kHz between 1700-1800 UTC.
Voice
of Broad Masses from African nation Eritrea was heard in Tigrinya
language on 6th September from 1600 UTC on 7205 kHz with SINPO 33333.
KNLS
in Russian was heard on 6th September from 1615 UTC on 9655 kHz with
SINPO 33333.
Radio
Santec in English was heard on 16th September via IRRS Shortwave,
Milano, Italy on 15190 kHz between 1500 to 1530 UTC with SINPO
43333.
CBC
North Quebec Radio was heard in English on 16th September with
English news and reports on 9625 kHz between 2200 to 2230 UTC. SINPO
was 32332.
Islamic
Republic of Iran Broadcasting in English was heard on 12th September
on 13780 kHz between 1530 to 1630 UTC with SINPO 55444
KTWR-
Agat, Guam in English was received with fair signal on 12th September
on 15200 kHz between 1500-1530 UTC. SINPO 55444
FEBC
transmitting from Manila, Philippines was heard in Combodian language
on 9th of this month on 7410 kHz between 1230 to 1245 UTC. SINPO was
33333.
